Built in limited numbers from 2004–2007, the Kimber Model 17 Classic Varmint pairs a match-grade fluted stainless barrel with a controlled-feed rimfire action and a grade-A walnut stock. Chambered in the flat-shooting .17 Mach 2, this rifle carries Kimber’s SUB-MOA accuracy guarantee and features the same three-position wing safety found on pre-64 Model 70s. Its combination of premium materials, precision machining, and short production run makes it a standout for both shooters and collectors.

The Classic Varmint series was Kimber’s purpose-built rimfire line for precision small-game and target work. This rifle uses a full-length Mauser-style extractor to deliver positive, controlled-feed reliability that is rare in rimfire actions.
Its 20-inch heavy-contour stainless barrel is fluted to reduce weight and improve heat dissipation. The recessed target crown protects the rifling, while the 1:16" twist is optimized for the light, high-velocity .17 Mach 2 cartridge.
The hand-rubbed oil-finish walnut stock features a Monte Carlo cheek-piece, wrap-around checkering, and integral sling-swivel studs. A 14" length of pull suits most adult shooters, and the cleanly adjustable trigger lets the owner dial in their preferred break weight.
Kimber’s matte-blue receiver contrasts sharply with the bright stainless barrel, giving the rifle a distinct two-tone look. Pre-installed Weaver bases make it ready for the optic of your choice.
