SIG Sauer P238 Black Diamond Plate .380 ACP Limited-Edition Micro Pistol
This P238 Black Diamond Plate is a limited-production, factory-engraved variant of SIG Sauer’s popular micro .380 ACP pistol. Distinguished by its laser-cut reverse diamond-plate pattern set against a Nitron-coated slide, this model (part number 238-380-BDP) was produced in Exeter, New Hampshire between 2012 and 2014 and is no longer in regular circulation. Its compact 2.7-inch stainless barrel, single-action trigger, and night sights make it a highly carry-able sidearm that still appeals to collectors thanks to the uncommon finish and verified 2012 production prefix (27A).

The Black Diamond Plate finish pairs a matte black Nitron surface with exposed stainless steel in a reverse diamond motif, creating a striking contrast that is both cosmetic and functional for added grip when manipulating the slide. Factory engraving ensures consistent depth and alignment across the pattern.
Built on an anodized aluminum alloy frame, the micro-sized P238 retains classic 1911-style single-action controls, including a left-side thumb safety, inertia firing-pin safety, and hammer intercept notch. The skeletonized hammer and crisp trigger break contribute to precise shot placement despite the pistol’s compact footprint.
Night-time visibility comes from SIGLITE tritium three-dot sights dovetailed front and rear. These low-profile sights sit flush to the slide, preserving the pistol’s sleek lines while remaining snag-free for concealed carry.
A stainless, Nitron-treated 2.7-inch barrel and stainless slide components provide corrosion resistance, while the absence of an accessory rail keeps the form factor minimal. Two factory magazines—one flush, one with finger extension—allow the shooter to choose between maximum concealment and an extended grip.
As a discontinued, limited-run model, this P238 Black Diamond Plate offers both practical carry features and collector interest, particularly with its early 27A serial prefix confirming first-year production.
