Browning BAR High-Power Safari Grade I .270 Win. Belgian-Made Semi-Automatic Rifle (1967)
Produced in the very first year of BAR manufacture, this Belgian-made Safari Grade I pairs Browning’s classic gas-piston action with a forged-steel receiver and a 22-inch barrel—all finished in high-polish blue. Chambered in the versatile .270 Winchester and wearing its original walnut stock, this early “M7”-code rifle carries the desirable patent-pending barrel roll-mark and Belgian proof stamps that collectors look for.

This rifle represents the first generation of the BAR, built entirely in Belgium before production shifted in the mid-1970s. The forged-steel receiver and barrel wear matching high-polish bluing, accented by crisp Belgian proof marks: crowned ELG, Perron, and lion-over-PV.
The 22-inch barrel is stamped with the early patent-pending roll-mark unique to 1967 production. Coupled with Browning’s gas-piston, rotating-bolt system, it delivers reliable semi-automatic cycling in the flat-shooting .270 Winchester chambering.
The gloss-varnished walnut stock features hand-cut checkering for secure grip and a black ventilated recoil pad for comfort. Length of pull measures 13.5 inches, making the rifle well-balanced and fast to shoulder.
Sighting is handled by a hooded gold-bead front and an elevation-adjustable gold-line leaf rear, both original to the gun. Factory steel scope bases and 1-inch rings are already installed for quick optic attachment.
