Product Description

    Winchester Model 1906 Standard Pump-Action .22 S/L/LR Rifle – 1915 Production, 20-Inch Round Barrel

This Winchester Model 1906 Standard is a full-size takedown pump rifle chambered for .22 Short, Long, and Long Rifle. Built in 1915 and designed by John M. Browning, it combines the versatile 15-round tubular magazine with a compact 20-inch round barrel for handy field use. Collectors value the Model 1906 for its long production run, Browning lineage, and classic ribbed walnut slide handle—features all present on this example.

    Condition

Overall Condition: Fair condition, showing extensive signs of prior use and handling.
Bore Condition: Fair – Generally clean with some residue, worn rifling, and slight corrosion.
Specific Condition Notes: The rifle remains functional. The walnut stock has a visible crack and a small chip missing at the toe near the black hard-rubber Winchester buttplate. Metal surfaces exhibit widespread scratches and blemishes.

    What’s Included

    • Winchester Model 1906 Standard pump-action rifle

The Model 1906 is a true John Browning design, adapted from the earlier Model 1890 but simplified for economical production and wider ammunition compatibility. This Standard variant keeps the straight-grip walnut stock and ten-groove ribbed slide handle that give the gun its classic profile.

A takedown mechanism allows the barrel/receiver assembly to separate from the stock and trigger group with a single screw, making transport and cleaning straightforward. The exposed hammer and smooth pump action remain hallmarks of Winchester’s early 20th-century rimfire line.

The blued carbon-steel receiver, barrel, and small parts show the Winchester WP oval proof on the barrel and receiver, confirming factory testing. Iron sights consist of a fixed blade front and drift-adjustable rear leaf, both correct for the period.

Capacity is 15 rounds of .22 Short (12 with .22 Long and 11 with .22 Long Rifle), giving ample shots for small-game hunting or plinking without frequent reloading. The 13-inch length of pull and 20-inch barrel keep the rifle well-balanced for shooters of different sizes.
