Remington Model 1911 R1 Stainless .45 ACP 5" Full-Size Pistol – Huntsville Production
Remington’s Model 1911 R1 Stainless stands out as the company’s first stainless-steel 1911 since 1923. Built in Huntsville, Alabama between 2014 and 2019, this full-size .45 ACP pairs classic GI aesthetics with modern upgrades such as a lowered and flared ejection port, Series 80 firing-pin safety, and dovetail-mounted three-dot sights. Offered here in excellent condition, it presents a rare chance to own a short-run stainless variant that combines heritage, quality materials, and practical features.

Produced during Remington’s brief Huntsville era, the R1 Stainless—or “R1 S”—marked the brand’s return to stainless 1911 construction after a 91-year pause. Limited production numbers add collectability to an already desirable platform.
The pistol retains the proven 5-inch, match-grade barrel and full-size steel frame that make the 1911 renowned for balance and shootability. Its matte stainless finish resists corrosion while maintaining a subdued, non-glare profile.
Operational safety is comprehensive: a traditional thumb safety and grip safety are backed by a Series 80 firing-pin block. The solid aluminum three-hole trigger includes an overtravel stop for a crisp, predictable break.
Function-oriented slide work includes a lowered/flared ejection port for reliable case clearance and dovetail-mounted three-dot combat sights for quick target acquisition. A spur hammer and walnut double-diamond grips keep the visual lineage firmly rooted in classic 1911 styling.
