This Tyler Gun Works Featherweight New Vaquero is a true limited-edition revolver from the maker’s 2022 collaboration with RW Grip Frames. Built on Ruger’s New Vaquero platform and chambered in .45 Colt, it features a trimmed barrel, lightweight aluminum grip frame, tuned 2.5-lb trigger, and numerous custom touches—including color-case-hardened Bisley hammer and trigger—that make it both a refined shooter and a collectible.

The Featherweight series replaces the standard steel grip frame with an RW Grip Frames Bo Ty Express aluminum unit, bringing the revolver’s weight down to approximately 34 ounces while retaining full-size handling. Tyler Gun Works also fit a Belt Mountain knurled base pin, free-spin pawl, and set the cylinder gap to a precise 0.004 inch for consistent performance.
A shortened 4 1⁄8-inch stainless barrel, paired with a scalloped ejector housing, improves balance and holster clearance. Sight upgrades include a dovetail-mounted, vertically serrated front blade in a color-cased base and a milled, serrated square-notch rear window in the top strap—delivering a crisp sight picture uncommon on traditional Vaquero builds.
The Bisley-style hammer and trigger are color-case-hardened, and the action is tuned to a light, clean 2.5-pound break. A laser-engraved feather logo on the frame and Tyler & Wells mark on the grip butt discreetly signify the limited run, which was highlighted in American Handgunner (July/Aug 2023).
