Colt Single Action Army Second Generation .45 Colt Revolver, 4.75-Inch Nickel (1965)
Produced in 1965, this Second Generation Colt Single Action Army pairs the timeless 4.75-inch “Gunfighter” barrel with a factory nickel finish that was ordered far less often than the standard blue and case-hardened treatment. Chambered in the original .45 Colt cartridge and fitted with walnut grips bearing Rampant Colt gold medallions, it delivers classic Old West style backed by modern 1960s manufacturing. Serial number 40806SA confirms its 1965 production, making it a desirable piece for collectors seeking an authentic, lightly used SAA with enduring investment potential.

What’s Included
- Colt Single Action Army Second Generation revolver
This revolver represents the middle chapter of Colt’s legendary SAA production. Second Generation guns, built from 1956 to 1974, retained the classic profile while benefiting from updated machining and metallurgy, and many internal parts interchange with First Generation examples.
The 4.75-inch carbon-steel barrel gives the revolver quick handling while preserving the balance that made the Single Action Army a favorite on the frontier. Its fixed half-moon front blade and square-notch rear groove replicate the original sight picture developed in the 1870s.
Factory nickel plating covers the frame, cylinder, and barrel. Nickel guns left the factory in far smaller numbers than blued examples, and the bright finish both stands out visually and offers enhanced corrosion resistance.
Two-piece walnut grips with Colt gold medallions complete the classic look and provide a secure, comfortable hold. Underneath the finish, a robust carbon-steel frame and cylinder keep the revolver ready for range or display.
