Product Description

Savage Model 24 V-A .222 Remington / 20 Gauge Combination Gun – Blued Steel, Walnut Stock, 24" Barrels

This early-1970s Savage Model 24 V-A pairs a .222 Remington rifle barrel with a 20-gauge shotgun barrel, giving the shooter flexible, quick-switch capability in one break-action package. Factory wildlife engraving, a walnut stock, and period-correct blued finish add classic appeal, while a GunPac ventilated recoil pad lengthens the pull to 15 inches for a comfortable shoulder fit.

    Condition

Overall Condition: Good condition, showing some signs of prior use and handling.
Bore Condition: Excellent - Clean, mirror finish, no signs of wear.
Bore Rifling: Excellent Rifling - Sharp lands and grooves.

Specific Condition Notes: Light handling marks are present on the blued metal and walnut surfaces, with no significant dents or gouges.

    What’s Included

    • Savage Model 24 V-A combination gun with GunPac ventilated recoil pad (installed)

The break-action design uses a single exposed hammer with a barrel-selector toggle, allowing instant choice between rifle and shotgun shots. The 20-gauge barrel is chambered for 3" shells and carries a fixed Improved-Modified choke, making it ready for everything from upland birds to small game.

The .222 Remington rifle barrel features a 3/8-inch grooved rail for easy scope installation and retains its factory iron sights: a ramped post front and folding-leaf adjustable rear. Both barrels measure 24 inches and are finished in polished blued steel that matches the blued steel receiver.

Walnut furniture with crisp checkering offers a secure, traditional grip. The aftermarket GunPac ventilated recoil pad not only softens felt recoil but also extends the length of pull to 15 inches, accommodating taller shooters.

Factory wildlife engraving—depicting a fox chasing a pheasant—adds distinctive visual interest and confirms this piece as an original factory-engraved example. Serial prefix “A” dates production to the early 1970s, aligning with the classic styling and build quality collectors expect from this era of Savage Arms.
