Lefever Nitro Special Field Grade 12 Ga Side-by-Side, 30" Mod/Full Chokes, 2 ¾" Chamber
This Lefever Nitro Special Field Grade combines the robust Ithaca-built box-lock action with classic American styling. Chambered in 12 gauge and wearing 30-inch barrels choked Modified and Full, it was marketed for waterfowl and other long-range work. Light rolled flying-goose engraving, original case-colored receiver, and period-correct blued barrels keep it true to its 1921–1947 heritage, while an aftermarket ivory-colored goose inlay on the right side of the buttstock adds a unique touch.

Produced by Ithaca Gun Co., the Nitro Special was engineered for reliability, using a strong box-lock design with a Greener-style crossbolt and coil main-springs. Approximately 361,000 were built, and the flying-goose motif quickly became a Lefever hallmark.
This example retains its 30-inch solid-rib barrels, delivering Modified and Full fixed chokes—ideal for traditional waterfowl or upland pursuits. Chambers are cut for standard 2 ¾-inch shells.
Controls are classic and intuitive: double triggers for independent barrel selection and an automatic tang safety that resets on opening. Extractors lift spent shells for easy removal.
The pistol-grip American walnut stock and matching splinter forend feature crisp checkering for a firm hold. Length of pull measures 14 inches, catering to a wide range of shooters.
Original brass bead front sight, faded case-colored receiver sides with light rolled engraving, and the custom ivory goose inlay give this full-size field gun both functional appeal and display-worthy character.
