This No. 1-H features a 24" heavy barrel crafted from chrome-moly steel and finished in polished blue. A quarter rib tops the barrel, providing integral scope-ring bases and housing express iron sights—a brass-bead ramp front with protective ears and a single folding express-leaf rear.
The satin-finished walnut stock sports crisp checkering, a pistol-grip profile, and an Alexander-Henry style fore-end, capped by a factory rubber recoil pad to soften the cartridge’s considerable recoil. A sling-swivel band on the barrel and a second stud in the stock toe make field carry straightforward.
Ruger’s hammerless falling-block action is renowned for its strength, making it a solid choice for the high pressures generated by classic Nitro Express loads. The tang-mounted two-position safety is intuitive and ambidextrous, while the 13.75" length of pull offers comfortable shouldering for most shooters.
Chambering the historic .450/400 Nitro Express 3"—a cartridge once favored across Africa and India—this rifle stands out as one of the few modern factory offerings in the caliber. Its single-shot capacity, sturdy construction, and refined aesthetics make it equally at home in the field or as a collectible centerpiece.
