The P238 is built on a locked-breech, all-metal micro frame that mirrors full-size 1911 ergonomics. Its single-action-only trigger and manual thumb safety provide crisp breaks and familiar handling for shooters accustomed to 1911 platforms.
The 2.7-inch barrel keeps the slide stroke short, reducing muzzle lift while maintaining reliable cycling with defensive .380 ACP loads. Rear cocking serrations offer secure purchase for slide manipulation, even with the pistol’s compact dimensions.
Factory-installed three-dot night sights enhance visibility in low light. The dovetailed design allows windage adjustments or easy replacement if desired.
White/gray polymer grips with longitudinal flutes add contrast to the two-tone finish and deliver a positive hold without adding bulk. At just six rounds in the magazine plus one in the chamber, the P238 maintains a slim profile ideal for discreet carry.
Introduced in 2009 as SIG’s first U.S.-made micro 1911, the P238 set the stage for the later P938 in 9 mm. This example, part number 238-380-TSS, showcases the classic stainless-over-black configuration prized by many owners for its balance of durability and style.
