This Molot Vepr in 7.62x54R is a scarce, pre-ban import from Vyatskie Polyany, Russia. Built on a reinforced 1.5 mm RPK-style receiver and fitted with a chrome-lined, hammer-forged barrel, it is the only factory AK-pattern rifle chambered for the powerful 7.62x54R cartridge. Its importation ceased under the 2017 OFAC sanctions, making examples in this condition highly sought after by shooters and collectors alike.

The heart of this Vepr is its Russian-made, chrome-lined 23.25-inch barrel, chamber, gas block, and piston, all designed for long-term durability with corrosive surplus ammunition. A 1:9.4-inch right-hand twist stabilizes the heavy 7.62x54R bullet, while the 14×1 mm LH muzzle threads allow the use of standard AK-pattern devices.
Molot builds the Vepr on a stamped steel RPK receiver that is 50 percent thicker than a standard AKM receiver. The reinforced trunnion and heavy ribbed top cover further enhance rigidity, helping the rifle handle the pressures of the full-power cartridge.
The walnut thumb-hole skeleton stock includes an adjustable cheek-rest and a rubber butt-pad, providing a 14.5-inch length of pull for comfortable shooting. A matching ventilated walnut handguard stays cool under sustained fire and complements the stock’s oil finish.
