The 605 Poly Protector uses a polymer-sheathed frame over a steel sub-frame, introduced in 2012 to trim weight without sacrificing durability. At 20 ounces unloaded, it carries lighter than traditional all-steel snub-noses while still being rated for continuous use with .357 Magnum ammunition.
The 2-inch stainless barrel is fully shrouded with a full under-lug, giving the revolver a clean profile and helping manage recoil. An orange fiber-optic front sight pairs with a fixed trench rear to deliver a bright, quick sight picture in varied lighting.
Taurus equips the revolver with an exposed hammer for either double-action or crisp single-action trigger pulls. The internal transfer-bar system prevents the hammer from contacting the firing pin unless the trigger is fully pressed, and the integral Taurus Security System key lock allows the owner to disable the action for storage.
