Product Description

Springfield Armory M1 Garand .30-06 Korean War Era Semi-Auto Rifle, 24" Barrel

Built at Springfield Armory between 1952 and 1954, this M1 Garand represents the post-war production run that introduced the rifle’s final U.S.-issue refinements. Falling in the 4.33-million serial block, it features the upgraded T105E1 rear sight, a relief-cut operating rod, and an oil-finished walnut stock with a coarse-checkered steel butt-plate. With only about 200,000 rifles produced in this period, Korean War era Springfields are noticeably scarcer than their World War II counterparts.

    Condition

Overall Condition: Good condition, showing some signs of prior use and handling.

Bore Condition: Good - Clean, well-maintained, minor wear marks.

Bore Rifling: Excellent Rifling - Sharp lands and grooves.

Specific Condition Notes: The rifle displays visible handling marks, including scattered scratches and blemishes on the stock and metal surfaces. All markings remain clear, and Parkerizing coverage is consistent.

    What’s Included

    • Springfield Armory M1 Garand rifle
    • One 8-round en-bloc clip

This rifle retains its factory matte grey/green Parkerized finish on the carbon-steel receiver, barrel, and operating components, matching the period’s U.S. military specification. The stamp on the receiver heel—"U.S. RIFLE CAL. .30 M1 SPRINGFIELD ARMORY"—is crisp and legible.

The oil-finished walnut furniture shows the correct no-groove profile adopted after World War II. Both upper and lower handguards align tightly with the 24" barrel, and the coarse-checkered butt-plate includes the traditional trapdoor for cleaning gear storage.

Mechanically, the rifle uses the proven gas-operated, long-stroke piston system with a rotating bolt, cycling eight rounds of .30-06 from its en-bloc clip. The relief-cut operating rod reduces stress during cycling—one of the last production updates before the M1 left U.S. service.

Sighting is handled by the T105E1 two-knob aperture rear sight and a wing-protected front post, offering precise windage and elevation adjustments. Combined with excellent rifling in the 24" barrel, this setup delivers the accuracy that earned General Patton’s famous praise.

With its Korean War provenance, scarce production numbers, and final-pattern U.S. GI features, this Springfield Armory M1 Garand stands out for both shooters and collectors seeking a historically significant service rifle.
