Built around a billet-machined 7075-T6 aluminum upper and lower, the Aptus employs DRD Tactical’s NiB-X Nickel Boron Battle-worn finish for corrosion resistance and a distinctive appearance. The 15" free-float aluminum handguard carries a full-length Picatinny rail up top with M-LOK slots along the sides and bottom for accessories.
The rifle’s patented internal recoil mechanism eliminates the need for a buffer tube, letting the adjustable polymer stock fold completely to the right while still allowing the weapon to operate. Twin captive cross-bolts secure the barrel; loosening them allows the user to swap calibers or remove the barrel without tools, making transport and caliber changes quick and simple.
This package includes separate 16" nitrided barrels in 5.56 NATO and .300 AAC Blackout. Both feature 5R rifling, a 1:7 twist, and threaded muzzles, adding suppressor or muzzle device flexibility. The .300 BLK barrel is factory-equipped with a Superlative Arms adjustable gas block and a two-port brake to fine-tune backpressure across subsonic and supersonic loads.
Controls are fully ambidextrous, including the magazine release, safety selector, and extended bolt-catch. A non-reciprocating left-side charging handle keeps the shooter on target during manipulations. The installed Hiperfire Hypertouch Competition trigger provides a crisp, single-stage break well suited to precision or rapid fire, and the Magpul MOE pistol grip supplies a familiar, ergonomic interface.
