Powered by a roller-delayed blowback system, the GIR mirrors the feel and function of the original HK91 while meeting modern U.S. production standards. The heat-treated, full-auto profile carrier is sear-ready for qualified NFA owners, yet the rifle ships in a semiautomatic configuration for civilian use.
The 18" ordnance-steel barrel is stress-relieved for consistency, tapered for optimal weight balance, and threaded 5/8x24 to accept common .30-caliber muzzle devices. A 1:10" right-hand twist stabilizes a broad range of .308 Win/7.62 NATO projectiles.
A slim-line polymer handguard keeps the front end ergonomic and cool during sustained fire, while the fixed polymer stock and pistol grip deliver classic G3 handling. The durable Parkerized phosphate finish protects all steel surfaces against corrosion and wear.
Iron sights consist of a hooded post front and a four-position rotary drum rear, offering precise adjustments out to extended distances. For shooters who prefer optics, the integral 7.5" rail provides a rigid platform for scopes or red dots without the need for add-on mounts.
