Produced in the early 1990s at the Izhevsk Mechanical Plant, the IJ-70 18A represents Russia’s first wave of commercial Makarovs exported to the United States. The pistol carries clear PC 3563 and KBI Harrisburg, PA import stamps, linking it to one of the earliest import batches following the Soviet era.
The fixed 3.68-inch barrel is press-fit to the frame, a hallmark of Makarov design that enhances inherent accuracy and simplifies field stripping. The addition of a square-notch adjustable rear sight—unique to export models—gives shooters the ability to dial in elevation and windage, making this variant stand out from standard military examples.
Construction is all-steel with a deep blued finish on both slide and frame. Vertical serrations at the rear of the slide combine with anti-glare serrations on top, aiding manipulation and sight focus.
