This pistol is part of the original M&P line produced from 2005 to 2016, predating the M2.0 upgrade. As the NTS variant, it omits the external thumb safety for a streamlined profile while retaining internal safeties such as a striker block and pivoting trigger safety.
The 4.25-inch stainless steel barrel and slide receive S&W’s Melonite treatment, achieving a 68 HRc surface hardness for increased corrosion and wear resistance. Fish-scale rear serrations on the slide provide secure manipulation, and the matte black finish minimizes glare.
A black polymer frame keeps weight low and incorporates moderate texturing for a secure grasp. Ambidextrous slide-stop levers and a reversible magazine release accommodate both right- and left-handed shooters, while a lanyard hole molded into the heel adds field versatility.
The integral three-slot Picatinny rail in front of the trigger guard accepts common weapon-mounted lights or lasers. Takedown is simple and avoids the need to pull the trigger, enhancing safety during maintenance.
Steel three-dot sights—white-dot front and two-dot rear—come dovetailed into the slide for durability and straightforward replacement if desired.
