This first-generation Thompson Center Contender pairs a factory-engraved G1 frame with the original 10-inch bull barrel chambered in .22 WMR. Built in 1985, it features the coveted cougar-and-scroll engraving, a highly adjustable trigger, and walnut target furniture. A Bushnell 2-6x handgun scope on a Leupold steel base rounds out a package that is equally at home on the range or in a collection.

The G1 Contender frame is the original series noted for its interchangeable-barrel design. Switching calibers requires only backing out a hinge pin; no headspacing or timing work is needed.
This pistol retains its 10-inch .22 WMR bull barrel, providing rigidity and weight forward of the hand for steady off-hand shooting. Factory iron sights remain intact, with the rear leaf removed to clear the mounted scope.
The frame wears Thompson Center’s factory cougar engraving—an early hallmark that collectors seek. Deep blued steel contrasts sharply with the satin-oiled walnut target grip and forend, both cut with finger grooves for positive purchase.
