First-generation M&P pistols like this one feature a stainless-steel slide and internal chassis treated with Melonite for corrosion resistance and a uniform matte black finish. The glass-filled polymer frame keeps weight down while housing a reversible magazine release and a hinged, serrated trigger safety system.
The 4.25-inch stainless barrel, also Melonite-treated, balances sight radius and carry comfort. Inside, the bore is bright with sharp rifling, a clear indicator of limited round count and attentive maintenance.
Distinctive fish-scale serrations at the rear of the slide provide positive traction for press checks and manipulations. The slide wears classic 3-dot sights: a white-dot front blade paired with a two-dot steel rear, giving a familiar sight picture for both duty and competition use.
Interchangeable back-straps allow the shooter to tailor grip size, while the absence of a thumb safety or magazine disconnect keeps controls simple and consistent. With its 17+1 standard capacity (and included 15-round magazine), this M&P 9 remains a practical choice for range, duty, or home-defense roles.
