This early Rochester-made G1 Contender pairs Thompson Center’s break-open versatility with a heavy 14-inch Super 14 barrel optimized for metallic silhouette competition. Factory scroll engraving and the classic T/C cougar logo set the frame apart, while the bull barrel and walnut target furniture deliver stability and control.

Overall Condition: Very good condition, showing only light, superficial signs of prior handling or use.
Bore Condition: Excellent – Clean, mirror finish, sharp lands and grooves.
There are a few small surface scratches and minor blemishes on the exterior, but they remain shallow and purely cosmetic.

The G1 Contender frame accepts a wide range of interchangeable barrels, and this example retains the original hammer-mounted selector that switches between rimfire and centerfire firing pins. The plum-hued blued small parts identify it as an earlier production piece from 1979, appealing to collectors of first-generation Contenders.
The 14-inch carbon-steel bull barrel offers increased sight radius and added weight at the muzzle, helping shooters manage recoil and steady the sight picture in silhouette events. Drilled and tapped holes give owners the option to mount alternate sighting systems without modifying the barrel.
Walnut target furniture provides a firm, ergonomic grasp. The right-hand thumb rest and finger grooves lock the shooting hand in place, while the matching fore-end balances the pistol’s forward weight.
