The Ares Defense SCR (Sport Configurable Rifle) Gen I Carbine offers AR-15 performance in a traditional sporting configuration. This early-production example (serial AS-001213) features the proprietary recoil assembly that removes the need for a buffer tube, allowing a Monte Carlo stock while maintaining compatibility with most AR-15 upper receivers. Lightly handled and chambered in versatile 5.56 NATO, it delivers a unique blend of familiar controls and compliant design for feature-restricted jurisdictions.

The SCR’s proprietary, spring-loaded bolt carrier and internal recoil system allow the rifle to use a conventional sporting stock without a buffer tube. This design meets many state compliance requirements while retaining standard AR-pattern controls and parts compatibility.
The 16.25" chrome-moly steel barrel wears a medium profile and 1:9 twist, offering a balance of durability and accuracy for a broad range of 5.56 loads. An enlarged ejection port and omission of forward assist and dust cover reflect the early Ares design approach.
The lower receiver is machined from 7075-T6 aluminum and finished with a hard-coat anodizing that matches the upper. A reversible cross-bolt safety sits just behind the trigger, complementing the rifle’s sporting ergonomics.
A glass-filled polymer Monte Carlo stock provides a 13" length of pull and incorporates a checkered butt-plate for solid shoulder contact. Up front, a Magpul MOE-style polymer handguard offers a lightweight, heat-resistant grip and rail-mounting slots for accessories.
