This Model 85 uses titanium alloy for the frame, cylinder, and barrel shroud, while a stainless liner protects the bore. The result is a revolver that weighs significantly less than comparable steel models yet remains rated for .38 Special +P ammunition.
The factory 2-inch barrel is ported with three round ports per side. These vents redirect gases upward, helping tame muzzle rise and keep the sight picture steady during rapid DA or SA strings.
A matte gold Ti-nitride PVD finish coats all exterior titanium surfaces, giving the revolver its limited-run appearance and added surface hardness. Taurus produced this color in very small numbers, increasing both its rarity and collector interest.
Operational controls include an exposed spurred hammer for precise single-action shots, an internal transfer-bar safety, and the Taurus Security System key lock for storage security. Fixed sights consist of a serrated ramp front and a square-notch rear groove machined into the top strap—rugged, snag-free, and always on.
