Bushmaster XM15-E2S Varminter 5.56/.223 24" Fluted Stainless Barrel – Early Windham Precision AR
Built during Bushmaster’s Windham, Maine era, this XM15-E2S Varminter is a factory-configured precision rifle that pairs a 24-inch heavy fluted stainless barrel with a free-float knurled aluminum handguard. The result is a purpose-built platform for accurate shooting at distance while retaining standard AR-15 controls for familiarity and parts compatibility. A custom rubberized pistol grip with palm shelf, two-stage trigger, and forged 7075-T6 receivers round out a package that appeals to both varmint hunters and AR collectors.

What’s Included
- Bushmaster XM15-E2S Varminter rifle

The heart of this Varminter is a 416 stainless steel barrel with deep flutes that reduce weight, aid cooling, and maintain rigidity. Its 24-inch length and 1:9 right-hand twist are optimized for common varmint and match bullet weights.
The upper and lower receivers are forged from 7075-T6 aluminum and finished with a hard-coat anodize. Dual caliber roll marks (.223 Rem / 5.56 NATO) give the shooter flexibility in ammunition choice while preserving collector interest in this early production example.
A free-float knurled aluminum tube handguard keeps external pressure off the barrel, enhancing repeatable accuracy. The rifle ships without sights, ready for the user’s preferred optic on the integral receiver rail.
Controls remain mil-spec, but Bushmaster fitted a crisp two-stage trigger for finer shot-break control. The aftermarket rubberized finger-groove grip with extended beavertail and adjustable palm shelf offers a stable, competition-oriented hold.
Rounding out the build is a fixed A2 stock with rear sling loop, providing a solid cheek weld and familiar ergonomics for shooters accustomed to traditional AR furniture.
