Taurus Model 17 Silhouette Series .17 HMR Revolver – 12-Inch Stainless, 7-Shot, Limited-Run Competition Wheelgun
Built for IHMSA silhouette competition and produced only from 2002 to 2005, the Taurus Model 17 Silhouette is a rare, purpose-built revolver that pairs the flat-shooting .17 HMR cartridge with a 12-inch bull barrel and a seven-round cylinder. All-stainless construction, a ventilated rib, and an extra-long 17.5-inch sight radius give this revolver a distinct edge in precision shooting while its limited production run enhances its collectibility.

What’s Included
- Taurus Model 17 Silhouette Series revolver
Developed specifically for long-range handgun matches, the Model 17 Silhouette features a 12-inch stainless bull barrel fitted with a ventilated rib that helps manage heat and adds valuable weight out front for steadier off-hand shots.
The revolver is chambered for the high-velocity .17 HMR and uses a seven-shot cylinder, giving the shooter more capacity than typical rimfire wheelguns. A 1:10-inch right-hand twist stabilizes the light .17-caliber bullets for impressive downrange accuracy.
Precision sights come standard: a pinned Patridge-style front blade and a fully adjustable square-notch rear, working with the lengthy 17.5-inch sight radius to maximize sight alignment. The top strap is factory drilled, allowing the easy addition of a scope base if desired for even greater precision.
All major components—frame, barrel, cylinder, and ejector-rod shroud—are stainless steel with a matte finish that resists glare. Taurus’s finger-groove Ribber grip provides a secure, recoil-absorbing hold, while the transfer-bar system and keyed Taurus Security System add safety without complicating operation.
