This 2025 Lipsey’s-exclusive Smith & Wesson 686-7 Plus Mountain Gun combines the lightweight, tapered-barrel balance of the original Mountain Gun with modern 7-shot capacity and the desirable absence of an internal lock. Built from brushed satin stainless steel and fitted with smooth Bear Hug walnut stocks, it marks the first 686 Mountain Gun release since 2004 and was produced in limited numbers for Lipsey’s distributors only.

Smith & Wesson omitted the internal key lock on this run, a feature many shooters prefer for simplicity and aesthetics. The action remains the proven double-action/single-action system, enhanced by a smooth, narrow trigger and a rebounding hammer for safe, fast follow-up shots.
Sighting is fast and precise thanks to a pinned brass-bead ramp front sight paired with a fully adjustable micrometer rear. Together with the 1:18.75" right-hand twist rifling, they help extract full accuracy from .357 Magnum and .38 Special loads alike.
