The HK45 V1 offers proven .45 ACP performance with modern ergonomics and fully ambidextrous controls developed for the U.S. Joint Combat Pistol program. Built around a cold-hammer-forged, O-ring-fitted barrel and a corrosion-resistant slide, this 2015-dated pistol blends German engineering with American assembly quality, giving shooters a durable, duty-ready sidearm.

Developed with input from Larry Vickers and Ken Hackathorn, the HK45 V1 features a frame-mounted safety/decocker that can be converted for left- or right-hand use, supporting multiple carry styles. The ambidextrous paddle-style magazine release and slide lever further streamline operation for any shooter.
The 4.46-inch cold-hammer-forged barrel uses polygonal rifling and an O-ring at the muzzle to enhance slide lock-up and extend service life to a rated 20,000 rounds. Combined with the nitro-carburized Hostile Environment slide finish, the barrel and slide are designed to perform reliably in adverse conditions.
Tritium three-dot sights provide a clear, low-light sight picture without batteries. Front and rear cocking serrations allow confident slide manipulation, while the external hammer supports traditional DA/SA operation with a smooth double-action trigger pull and crisp single-action reset.
The glass-fiber-reinforced polymer frame keeps weight manageable and incorporates interchangeable backstraps for a tailored grip that later influenced HK’s VP series. True accessory rails accept weapon lights or lasers for duty or defensive setups.
