Colt Lightweight Commander XSE Series 80 9mm Luger – 4.25" Alloy-Frame 1911, Novak Sights, 8+1
The Colt Lightweight Commander XSE brings 1911 handling to a lighter, more compact package. Introduced in 2015 as the first 9 mm variant in the XSE line, this model pairs a stainless slide with an aluminum-alloy frame for a carry weight of roughly 27 oz unloaded. Front and rear cocking serrations, Novak-pattern three-dot sights, and Series 80 safety features round out a short-run pistol that is now discontinued and increasingly sought after.

What’s Included

- Colt Series 80 Pistol Safety and Instruction Manual
- Two 8-round Colt stainless steel 9 mm magazines
Colt engineered the Lightweight Commander around a 4.25-inch barrel to retain the balance of a traditional Commander while trimming weight with its aluminum-alloy frame. The result is a pistol that carries easier than a steel Government model yet maintains the familiar 1911 control layout.
This example belongs to the short-lived XSE series, identifiable by its “9FL” serial prefix and its factory enhancements. Forward cocking serrations, a skeletonized rowel hammer, and a lightened three-hole aluminum trigger support precise manipulation and a crisp trigger break.
The stainless slide wears Novak-pattern three-dot sights for a clean sight picture and snag-free draw. Paired with the Series 80 firing-pin block, extended beavertail grip safety, and ambidextrous thumb safety, the pistol offers modern safety and handling without straying from classic 1911 ergonomics.
Black synthetic double-diamond grips with Colt medallions provide secure purchase, while the stainless-color Cerakote/nickel frame finish complements the brushed stainless slide. Collectors and shooters alike will appreciate owning one of the few 9 mm Lightweight Commanders produced before the XSE line ended.
