Designed around a straight blowback action, the Model 85’s fixed 3.81" carbon-steel barrel remains stationary during firing, helping the pistol maintain tight groups and quick follow-up shots. The open-top slide further enhances reliability by allowing spent cases to eject freely.
The FS revision introduces an ambidextrous frame-mounted safety that also functions as a decocker, giving shooters safe, intuitive control in either hand. A curved, serrated DA/SA trigger and external hammer deliver a smooth double-action first pull followed by crisp single-action shots.
Its slim aluminum-alloy frame keeps weight down while providing a comfortable, concealable grip. Black checkered polymer panels with Beretta medallions offer a secure hold, and the squared trigger guard adds a modern look consistent with later 80-Series updates.
Sights are fixed, dovetailed 3-dot units: an orange-dot front blade and a white-dot rear notch for quick alignment in varied lighting. Italian proof marks and the Gardone factory address on the slide confirm authentic, Italian manufacture before production of the legacy 80-Series concluded.
