The P232 is a compact, straight blowback .380 ACP with DA/SA operation. It uses an exposed hammer and a left-side frame decocking lever, with no manual safety. A heel-type magazine release supports its European-style control layout.
Construction is lightweight and durable, pairing a hard-anodized aluminum-alloy frame with a black-finished blued steel slide. The slide top has anti-glare serrations. Sights are fixed, with an integral ramped front blade and a dovetailed rear sight secured by a set screw that allows drift adjustment.
This pistol is Made in Germany and carries the German eagle over N nitro proof, the two-letter German date code AG, and the SIGARMS INC. EXETER–NH import mark. The slide is marked 'SIGSAUER MADE IN GERMANY P232.' The model is discontinued, with U.S. importation ending in 2014. The slide and frame have matching serial numbers.
