The Venezuelan-contract configuration is identified by the national crest on the receiver ring and the left receiver rail legend: "FABRIQUE NATIONALE D'ARMES DE GUERRE - HERSTAL - BELGIQUE." Belgian proof marks are present. The receiver is steel with a blued finish, set into a full-length military wood stock with a two-piece wood handguard.
Mechanically, it runs a gas-operated, tilting-bolt action with an adjustable gas system using a knurled plug on the right side. Charging and ejection are from the right. A fixed internal 10-round magazine is fed via stripper clips, and a bayonet lug is fitted at the muzzle.
The 23" barrel is equipped with a muzzle brake. Sighting is via iron sights: a protected front post with ears and a tangent ladder rear sight graduated 1-10. The rifle retains military furniture including sling swivels, a single barrel band, and a serrated steel buttplate. Length of pull measures 13.0 inches.
This is a full-size, early Cold War FN SAFN-49 built in Belgium. It retains contract-correct features and markings, including the crest and factory legends, and has matching serial numbers on the receiver and bolt carrier.
