Product Description

Remington Model 31 12 Gauge Pump-Action, 28 in Barrel, 2 3/4 in Chamber, 1941 Mfd, Solid Matted Rib, Fixed Modified Choke

This 1941 Remington Model 31 is a classic American-made pump shotgun with the hallmark features that made the series known as the "ball-bearing repeater." It pairs a 28 in steel barrel with a solid, matted rib and single front bead, a 2 3/4 in chamber, and Remington's smooth side-ejecting action. A period wood stock with a shadowline cheekpiece and a smooth beavertail fore-end complete the configuration, along with an aftermarket White Line ventilated recoil pad and a 14.0 in length of pull.

    Condition

Overall Condition: Fair condition, showing extensive signs of prior use and handling.

Bore Overall Condition: Good - Clean, well-maintained, minor wear marks.

Specific Condition Notes: The magazine tube is rusted and cannot store rounds, though the shotgun functions as a single-load pump. There are visible signs of wear and handling throughout, including scratches, blemishes, areas of surface rust, and finish loss. There is rust at the tip of the bore.

    What’s Included

    • Remington Model 31 12 Gauge pump-action shotgun

The Model 31 was Remington's first side-ejecting pump and the forerunner to the Model 870, noted for its smooth cycling. This example bears the receiver roll-mark "Remington REG. U.S. PAT. OFF.

MODEL 31" and features right-side ejection with bottom loading, plus a takedown interface at the receiver and barrel joint.

The 28 in barrel is marked "12 GA. FOR 2 3/4 OR SHORTER SHELLS." It has a solid, matted rib and a single front bead. The choke is fixed Modified, stamped "MOD," and the receiver top also carries a narrow matted sighting plane to reduce glare.

The wood furniture includes a stock with a shadowline cheekpiece and a smooth, uncheckered beavertail fore-end. An aftermarket White Line ventilated recoil pad with a white spacer is installed, yielding a 14.0 in length of pull.

Steel construction with a blued finish ties the build together. Made in the United States and manufactured in 1941, this Model 31 reflects the design and markings collectors expect from this era.
