- Remington Model 11-48 Sportsman 48 12 Gauge shotgun
The Sportsman 48 variant of the Model 11-48 uses Remington's long-recoil operating system with a recoiling barrel and is marked on the receiver as Remington Sportsman 48. This example is set up in the factory three-shot configuration (2+1) that defined the Sportsman pattern.
The 30 in steel barrel is marked 12 GA for 2 3/4 or shorter shells and is stamped FULL. It includes a ventilated rib and a single front bead for a clear sighting plane. The barrel carries the RYY date code denoting November 1952, proof marks, and U.S. Patent No. 2,278,589.
The stock and long fore-end are walnut/hardwood with cut checkering and a pistol-grip profile. An aftermarket rubber recoil pad with a white-line spacer is installed, yielding a 13.75 in length of pull.
Finished in blued steel, this U.S.-made shotgun retains the classic Model 11-48 profile and markings. It is chambered for 2 3/4 in shells and retains the Sportsman three-shot capacity of 2+1. This shotgun is offered without a bolt assembly.
