The Commander-length configuration delivers a balanced 1911 with a 4.25 in stainless steel barrel and a compact footprint. Chambered in .45 ACP with a 7+1 capacity, it preserves the familiar 1911 handling while trimming slide and barrel length for carry-friendly proportions.
Construction is all stainless with a low-glare bead-blast finish on both frame and slide. The barrel and its bushing are machined from the same stainless bar stock for precise fit. A lowered and flared ejection port and rear cocking serrations support consistent cycling and confident manipulation. Ruger equips this model with a standard short GI guide rod and an integral (non-staked) plunger tube.
Its Series 70-style fire control uses a titanium firing pin and omits a firing-pin block. Controls include an extended magazine release, beavertail and grip safety, and a thumb safety. The skeletonized Commander-style hammer and a skeletonized, three-hole aluminum trigger with an over-travel screw provide a crisp, tuned feel. A visual inspection port offers a quick chamber check.
