The SCAR 16S is a semi-automatic, short-stroke gas piston rifle chambered in 5.56mm NATO with an adjustable regulator at the gas block and a multi-lug rotating bolt. Receiver markings indicate FN America, Columbia SC and SCAR 16S Multi-Caliber. This example is a pre-NRCH configuration with matching FDE upper, lower, and stock.
The 16.25-inch barrel is free-floating, cold hammer-forged, and chrome-lined for durability and service life. It is threaded and currently fitted with a multi-port muzzle brake/compensator. The 1:7 twist supports a wide range of 5.56/.223 bullet weights.
Ergonomics include a folding, telescoping stock with an adjustable cheekpiece and rubber buttpad, plus an ambidextrous safety selector. The reciprocating charging handle is reversible and installed on the left side. Length of pull is listed at 11.5 inches, and the rifle uses a STANAG-pattern magazine interface with a 30+1 capacity.
The monolithic aluminum upper provides a full-length numbered Picatinny top rail with accessory rails at 3, 6, and 9 o'clock. Folding iron sights are included, with a front sight on the gas block and a rear aperture sight. An unbranded bolt-on rail-extension/handguard module is installed, as well as a Monstrum weapon light with a remote pressure switch. Factory weight is about 7.25 lb, and overall length is about 34.5–37 inches.
