The Government Model .380 is a recoil-operated, single-action-only design with a compact profile and a 3.25-inch barrel. It uses a single-stack magazine for a 7+1 capacity and a push-button magazine release for straightforward handling.
Safety features include a manual safety and the Series 80 firing-pin block. The design lacks a grip safety, and the slide can be cycled with the safety engaged, supporting administrative handling without disengaging the safety.
Sights are fixed and practical: a ramped front sight integral to the slide and a square-notch rear sight set in a dovetail. The slide carries rear serrations for confident manipulation.
The pistol wears a matte silver/gray finish with brushed flats on both slide and frame, paired with black checkered synthetic grip panels featuring silver Colt medallions. It is a U.S.-made, 1990s-era example dated to 1995.
