It pairs a cold hammer-forged stainless barrel with Trijicon H3 suppressor-height night sights and a striker-fired, flat-faced trigger. Made in the USA, it includes two 15-round magazines and FN's Low-Profile Optics Mounting System interface.

The 509 Compact MRD features an optics-cut slide finished in FDE, with front and rear cocking serrations and an external extractor. It uses FN's Low-Profile Optics Mounting System interface for mounting micro red dots. Trijicon H3 tritium suppressor-height steel sights provide a bright, durable aiming solution. Note: The optic cover plate is not present with this pistol.
Its 4.02 in cold hammer-forged stainless steel barrel is non-threaded and built for longevity, with a recessed crown plus polished chamber and feed ramp for smooth operation. The striker-fired system uses a flat-faced trigger with an integrated safety lever, complemented by a trigger safety.
The FDE polymer frame offers aggressive grip texturing for confident control. Controls include a left-side, checkered magazine release. An integral three-slot MIL-STD-1913 accessory rail supports lights or lasers, and a lanyard hole sits at the rear of the grip. The frame is marked "FN COLUMBIA, SC USA," and a serial number plate with QR code is located on the dust cover.
Capacity is 15+1 with the included steel double-stack magazines featuring extended baseplates. The package delivers a compact footprint with ample capacity, night sights, and an optics-ready slide to configure to your preference.
