The P229 is configured in the classic non-rail format with a compact 3.9 inch barrel, chambered in .357 SIG. The slide is marked "SIG SAUER P229" and "STAINLESS," and the barrel hood is marked ".357 SIG." Rear diagonal cocking serrations provide purchase, with no front serrations.
Its two-tone appearance pairs a matte stainless slide with a black anodized aluminum alloy frame. The pistol uses a DA/SA layout with a decocking lever positioned ahead of the slide catch. A smooth curved trigger and a spurred hammer complete the controls.
Meprolight Tru-Dot tritium night sights are installed in a fixed 3-dot configuration, providing a bright, consistent sight picture in low light. The sight setup includes a tritium front blade and a tritium 3-dot rear.
