What's Included
- Zastava Arms M48 8mm Mauser bolt-action rifle
- Cleaning rod (installed)
Built on the intermediate-length Mauser 98–type action, this M48 uses a controlled-round-feed system with a large non-rotating claw extractor and a turned-down, in-the-white bolt. It retains a blued steel receiver and a carbon steel barrel, paired with a full-length hardwood stock, upper handguard, and steel buttplate.
Receiver markings include the Yugoslav coat of arms over "M 48" with Cyrillic "ФНРЈ" and "ПРЕДУЗЕЋЕ 44" denoting Factory 44 in Kragujevac. These FNRJ markings place production in the 1950s to early 1960s period.
Sighting is through a protected front post with hood/ears and a tangent rear sight graduated from 200 to 2000 meters. The rifle retains two barrel bands with a bayonet lug, a side sling slot, and a front sling swivel.
The 23.25 in barrel and excellent bore with sharp rifling support strong downrange consistency. The rifle feeds from a fixed internal 5+1 magazine and uses a three-position flag safety. Length of pull is 13.0 inches.
Additional details include matching serial numbers on the receiver, bottom metal, and buttstock, and a cleaning rod present under the barrel. The blued finish and Yugoslav crest give it the classic M48 military profile.
