Browning Cynergy Field Grade I 12 Gauge Over/Under Shotgun, 28" Barrels, Silver Nitride Receiver – 2004 Early Production – Sold AS-IS
This first-year (2004) Browning Cynergy Field Grade I combines Browning’s low-profile Mono-Lock Hinge with a forged steel, silver nitride receiver for a modern break-action that stays slim and strong. Back-bored 28-inch barrels, Vector Pro forcing cones, and chrome-plated 3-inch chambers deliver consistent patterns, while the Reverse Striker ignition system provides lightning-fast lock time. Built by Miroku in Japan, this early example carries collectible appeal alongside field-ready performance.
Condition
Overall Condition: Fair – showing extensive signs of prior use and handling.
Bore Condition: Good – clean, well-maintained, minor wear marks.
Specific Condition Notes: The buttstock has a chip and gouge, the barrel bears a large scratch, and the fore-end shows dents. The trigger currently fires both barrels with a single pull instead of cycling individually. Due to this trigger issue, a qualified gunsmith inspection is highly recommended before use. Sold AS-IS.
What’s Included
- Two Browning Invector-Plus flush Cylinder choke tubes
- Red Browning plastic choke sleeve
- Browning T-handle choke tube wrench
The 28-inch special-steel barrels are back-bored and fitted with vented top and side ribs. Combined with the CYL/CYL choke setup, they offer uniform shot distribution for close-range upland work or clays practice.
The silver nitride receiver showcases Browning’s distinctive flowing lines while housing the hammerless Reverse Striker system. This mechanical design shortens lock time and eliminates inertia dependence, adding reliability with light target loads.
An Inflex recoil pad, 14-inch length of pull, and 18 LPI cut-checkered walnut stock give the gun a controlled, comfortable mount. The rounded fore-end sits naturally in the hand, and the top-tang safety keeps operation intuitive.
A green fiber-optic front bead promotes fast target acquisition in varied light. The single selective gold-plated trigger can be switched for top or bottom-barrel first shots when properly functioning.
Marked with the “MW” date code and matching serial on the barrel lug, this early Cynergy offers both collectible interest and the engineering features that define Browning’s modern over/under line.
