The DISSENT bufferless compact action uses dual guide rods and springs housed in the upper, eliminating the traditional receiver extension while maintaining direct-impingement operation. An enlarged ejection port with a fixed case deflector and no forward assist complements the design, and an extended right-side bolt-release paddle speeds manual operation.
The 16 in barrel is 4140 chrome-moly steel with a protective nitride treatment and a 1:7 RH twist to stabilize common 5.56 projectiles. A mid-length gas system and an adjustable 0.750 in gas block allow fine tuning, and the barrel is threaded, currently fitted with a three-prong flash hider in place of the factory brake.
CMMG’s proprietary free-float aluminum M-LOK handguard measures approximately 15 in and carries a continuous 1913 top rail. The rifle includes an adjustable stock and a CMMG-branded pistol grip, with a Magpul MOE vertical foregrip and an M-LOK QD sling socket installed for ready sling and support-hand setup.
Controls are modern and practical: a forward left-side non-reciprocating side-charging handle, an ambidextrous safety selector, and a flat-faced trigger. Capacity is 30+1, and two 30-round polymer magazines are included. Sights are not included, offering a clean foundation for the user’s preferred setup.
