This sporterized Type 99 is built from a Heijo Arsenal short-rifle action and retains hallmark Arisaka features, including bolt-action, cock-on-close operation and the large push-and-rotate rear disc safety. The bolt has a turned-down handle with a round knob, consistent with a streamlined sporter configuration.
The rifle has been significantly modified from its original military configuration. It wears a non-military sporter-profile barrel with a ramped base and small pinned front-sight blade, and there is no rear sight installed. The original military furniture and magazine/floorplate assembly have been removed, as have the dust cover, handguard, and military rear sight.
Metal surfaces show a polished in-the-white steel finish on both receiver and barrel. The receiver bears the Heijo Arsenal star mark with an additional small symbol adjacent to the serial location, aligning with known Japanese WWII production markings.
An aftermarket receiver-top rail is installed and uses a Weaver/Picatinny-style interface. The action and barrel are steel, and the configuration presents as a clean sporterized barreled action suitable for parts or project use where lawful.
