This P229 Legion SAO uses a short-recoil, tilting-barrel operating system and a single-action-only fire control with an ambidextrous manual thumb safety. It deletes the decocking lever found on other variants, pairing the SAO setup with a flat-faced, single-action trigger for a consistent break.
The slide and frame wear the Legion Gray finish, with the Legion chevron on the slide and Legion medallions in the black G10 grips. Front and rear cocking serrations and an external extractor support confident manipulation. The slide is not optics cut.
The compact aluminum-alloy frame includes an integral accessory rail, enhanced front-strap and under-trigger guard checkering, an undercut trigger guard, and an extended beavertail. A skeletonized spurred hammer completes the SAO configuration.
SIG X-RAY3 day/night sights top the slide, featuring a high-visibility green front dot and a square-notch rear with two small lamps. The 3.9 inch barrel and 15+1 capacity offer a balanced blend of carry-friendly dimensions and on-board ammunition.
Observed factory markings include: slide marked "SIG SAUER P229," barrel marked "9 mm x 19," and frame marked "SIG SAUER INC., NEWINGTON-NH-USA." Country of origin is the USA.
