Built at Jianshe Arsenal and marked with the /26\ triangle, this Type 56 SKS carries clear GLNIC L.A. CA import markings. The serial number range maps to 1980 production, aligning with its period-correct features and configuration.
Construction is robust with a milled steel receiver. The bolt and bolt carrier are left in the white, while other steel components carry a blued/phosphated finish. The hardwood stock includes a finger groove forend and a left-side rear sling swivel, paired with a wooden, ventilated upper handguard featuring three vents per side.
Chambered in 7.62x39, this rifle uses a semi-automatic, short-stroke gas piston, tilting-bolt action. It retains the fixed 10-round magazine for a 10+1 capacity and supports stripper-clip loading. The barrel measures 20.5 inches and ends in an unthreaded muzzle. A folding spike bayonet mounts on the integral lug.
Sight regulation is handled by iron sights: a hooded front post and a tangent rear sight graduated from 100 to 1000 meters. The bore is excellent with a mirror finish and sharp lands and grooves, complementing the rifle’s mechanical soundness. Matching partial serial numbers are present on the receiver cover, bolt carrier, trigger guard, and fixed magazine.
