The Sportsman variant is identified by the bolt marked "THE SPORTSMAN," denoting the factory 3-shot (2+1) configuration. It uses the proven long-recoil action with side ejection and the distinctive Model 11/Auto-5 profile. The serial number range places this example in the post-1943 production period.
The 26 inch barrel is equipped with a solid matted rib, a mid-bead, and a brass front bead for clear, repeatable sight alignment. Barrel markings include the Remington Ilion address and the Browning patent line. Although the barrel is marked FULL, it is fitted with an adjustable Poly-Choke-type device for on-the-fly pattern control. Markings and features include a 2 3/4" cHAMBER, and a pOLYCHOKE adjustable muzzle device is installed.
The receiver wears attractive roll-stamped game scenes: a duck on the left and a pheasant on the right, all over a blued steel finish. This is a take-down configuration for convenient transport and maintenance.
Furniture is classic walnut, with a pistol-grip stock, matching fore-end, and a hard rubber buttplate. Length of pull measures 14.0 inches, and controls include a cross-bolt safety. The chamber is 2 3/4 inch, and capacity is 2+1.
