The MK III series introduced a transfer-bar safety system with coil mainspring and sintered-steel lockwork, offering a robust internal design distinct to this generation. This example is a double-action/single-action revolver with a smooth, curved trigger and a wide, checkered target-style hammer spur.
The 4 inch heavy-profile barrel features a solid, full-length ejector-rod shroud and a matte-serrated top rib to reduce glare. Sighting is handled by a pinned, serrated ramp front blade and a fully adjustable square-notch rear, giving the shooter precise, user-tunable alignment.
Construction is all carbon steel with a polished blue finish on the frame, cylinder, and barrel. The revolver wears checkered walnut grips with gold Colt medallions on a square butt, delivering a traditional Colt look in a full-size format.
Built on the Colt MK III medium frame (J-frame) unique to the MK III and Mark V families, the Trooper MK III line ran circa 1969–1983. This 1977 example is chambered in .357 Magnum with a 6-round cylinder and adjustable iron sights, made in the USA.
