The M&P15-22 follows the AR-15 pattern with two takedown pins, a SAFE/FIRE selector, and a left-side bolt catch. It uses polymer upper and lower receivers and is made in the United States.
Its 16.5 inch carbon steel barrel uses a 1:15 inch twist and is threaded 1/2x28, fitted with an A2-style flash suppressor.
A full-length Picatinny top rail bridges the receiver and handguard. The polymer quad-rail handguard provides Picatinny rails at the 12, 3, 6, and 9 o'clock positions. Flip-up polymer sights are installed, and an angled foregrip is included.
The rifle operates via a semi-automatic straight blowback action in .22 LR. Capacity is 25+1, and it comes with three factory 25-round magazines. A manual safety is standard.
Furniture includes a collapsible 6-position stock and a Magpul pistol grip. Length of pull is 10.5 inches.
