This Saiga is a Russian Izhmash/Kalashnikov Concern build in .223 Rem, retained in its factory sporter layout. It uses the AK-pattern long-stroke gas piston with a rotating bolt and a stamped, riveted receiver topped by a ribbed cover. The rifle is importer-marked by RWC Group LLC, Tullytown PA, and was brought in prior to the July 16, 2014 U.S. sanctions on Kalashnikov Concern.
The 16.3 inch barrel is chrome-lined and hammer-forged, with a threaded muzzle and no device installed. The setup is paired with AK-type iron sights: a front post with protective ears and a tangent rear leaf adjustable for elevation.
Furniture is black polymer, including a sporter fore-end and a sporter buttstock with an integral semi-pistol-grip. The stock includes a buttstock trapdoor and sling swivels. Length of pull is 13.4 inches. A manual safety selector lever is present on the receiver.
Feeding is via an AK-pattern detachable box magazine interface with a maximum capacity of 30+1. Included magazines are polymer .223 Rem units, consisting of long waffle-pattern 30-rounders and a shorter magazine marked "223Rem" with Izhmash logos.
Markings and proofs include Izhmash triangle-with-arrow logos, Russian proof and inspection stamps (including a standalone "14"), Cyrillic "САЙГА," and receiver markings "SAIGA 223Rem" and "MADE IN RUSSIA BY IZHMASH." The bolt carrier shows the partial number "871." The receiver is stamped steel with a black finish, and the rifle was manufactured in Russia.
