This 188-Series Ranch Rifle was manufactured in 1995 and carries the Southport, Connecticut address with receiver marking "RUGER RANCH RIFLE CAL..223." It is a pre-580 redesign configuration with the slender 18.5-inch, unthreaded barrel. The receiver, barrel, operating rod, and trigger guard are all stainless, giving it a uniform stainless finish and durability.
The rifle uses a semi-automatic, gas-operated action with a right-side charging handle and the Garand-style trigger-guard safety. Sights are classic Ranch Rifle: a protected blade front in a winged base and a folding aperture rear sight mounted on the receiver.
An aftermarket Hogue OverMolded synthetic stock is installed, providing a rubberized overmold with pebbled texturing on the grip and fore-end for confident handling. The stock includes a Hogue-marked rubber buttpad and a sling swivel at the butt, and the rifle retains its ventilated polymer top handguard.
The receiver incorporates integral Ruger scope base pads machined into the top, consistent with the Ranch Rifle pattern. Length of pull measures 13.5 inches. Chambered in .223 Rem., this Mini-14 ships with one 5-round steel magazine for a 5+1 capacity.
