The SR1911 uses a 5-inch stainless bushing barrel, with both the barrel and bushing machined from the same bar stock for consistent lock-up. The slide is stainless with rear serrations only, a lowered and flared ejection port, and a loaded-chamber inspection port. An internal extractor and integral (non-staked) plunger tube round out the classic, durable build.
Its Series-70-type fire control omits a firing-pin block, while a titanium firing pin with a heavy spring is employed. The pistol runs as a semi-automatic, single-action, recoil-operated 1911 with a standard GI recoil system. Safeties include a grip safety and a manual thumb safety.
Sights are Novak-marked, low-mount 3-dot fixed units that are drift-adjustable, with a dovetailed single-dot front and a two-dot rear. Controls include an extended magazine release, a skeletonized aluminum three-hole trigger, and a skeletonized commander-style hammer. Capacity is 8+1 in .45 ACP.
The frame and slide wear a low-glare stainless finish, complemented by double-diamond checkered hardwood grips with Ruger medallions. This example is Ruger part number 6700, manufactured in the USA in 2018, and includes two 8-round magazines plus a set of checkered black aftermarket grip panels.
